It is one of the oldest leafy vegetable and also used as a medicinal plant. WHO (World Health Organization) has included this in the list of most widely used medicinal plant. Purslane is a clover-like herb that has small, wedge-shaped, dark succulent type green leaves on its reddish, smooth and juicy stems. It is flavorful and crunchy and the entire plant can be used. Raw stems are mildly sour and tangy in flavor. Purslane is good source one type of omega-3 fatty acids which lowers blood pressure and cholesterol levels. It grows in warm climate.
